MSN Groups

I belong to quite a few MSN Groups, and a couple of weeks ago my good friend and partner in crime Melissa asked me to help her manage a Group she was starting called Women of MSN.  I'd been wanting to start my own MSN Group for a long time but never did - but this Group is exactly what I wanted.  Problem is, we're a baby Group, very new, with only about 30 members so far and not many people post regularly.  So I thought I'd post a little ad for it here, along with 2 other fairly new Groups I belong to that my friends Kimmy and Jenn run.  Click the banners to go to the Groups.

This group welcomes women from all walks of life, all over the world from ages 16+. Join us and discuss everything and anything under the sun!

This group was created for women to have a place to relax, have fun, build new friendships, and be completely comfortable discussing various topics.

Thank you so much to everyone who has continued to visit and leave such lovely comments, it's greatly appreciated, believe me!  I have a lot of people to get back to, and I'll try to start doing that tomorrow.

While I was MIA from Spaces, the lovely Tora left me this:

Announcement about Weekend Blog Walk

Ok guys...on Monday, I said I had an announcement to make about the Weekend Blog Walk, and here it is...

The last few weeks, it's been impossible for me to get around to everyone on the blog walk list...it takes me most of the weekend just to get around to a few people...I can't remember the last time I made it to everyone on the list and I feel really guilty because I love visiting all your blogs and reading your answers but MSN hates me for some reason.  I've lost a few of my favorite blog walkers for similar reasons, so it's slightly comforting to know that it's not just me or my computer.

So...after a lot of thought...I've decided I'm going to have to cancel the Weekend Blog Walk. It's just not enjoyable for me anymore because I stress so much about not being able to get around to everyone.

I've made some great friends through the blog walk and I plan to continue visiting you guys and I hope some of you (or all of you!) will still stop in from time to time to visit me too.  If MSN ever starts working properly for me, I'll probably start the Blog Walk up again...in fact, I'm going to leave the list of blog walkers at the bottom of my space so that if MSN does ever start working for me, I can visit you all and ask you if you still want to participate...plus that way I won't lose track of you guys since I can't memorize everyone's links! lol

I am really sorry about this, it was fun while it lasted.  AND...there are quite a few other blog walks out there, 2 of which I belong to: Dave's Midweek Spaces Walk and Tammy's Bitch Fest Mondays.  Also, as far as I know, Sarah (and Zebrina but I don't have her link) are still running one, as is April.

I'd like to thank all of you who have participated over the last couple of months...it's meant a great deal to me, I hope you all know that.  I'd also like to thank the people who have left comments for me lately...I swear I'm not ignoring you, I want to leave return comments and I will as soon as MSN actually LETS me into your spaces!!  Thanks for everything guys!

Midweek Spaces Walk, Week 7: Teachers

Midweek Spaces Walk, Week 7
Hosted by Dave
This week's topic is Teachers

Image hosting by Photobucket

I had a lot of teachers who made a real difference in my life.  When I was in the 5th grade, my dad was really, really sick and I was going through a lot and my teacher Mrs. Hen was very supportive, not only to me, but to my Mum as well.  When my dad died on the second-last day of school and I missed the last 2 days of class, she was so nice and so helpful.  She's one teacher that definitely sticks out in my mind...I even still see her every once in awhile.

Another teacher that I see every once in awhile is my Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Smith.  I don't remember her as a teacher but as a person she was and is exceptional.  Kind, caring, warm, smart, funny and very genuine and sincere.  I love running into her because even after all these years, she stops to talk to me, knows me by name and still seems genuinely interested in my life.

Teachers from high school who stick out in my mind and deserve to be mentioned are: Ms. Kruk, Ms. Fanjoy, Ms. Villamere and Mr. McWhirter...I know I'm forgetting some, but those 4 teachers really had an impact on my life, for different reasons and I liked and respected all of them, as teachers and as people.

I liked all my teachers in college: Janice, Joyce, Pam, Mary, Linda...these women, especially Janice, were not just teachers, they were friends and confidants.  I knew I could depend on them and they taught me so much, not just about school-related stuff, but about life.

I was really lucky to have some great teachers over the years...of course, I had some not-so-great ones but thankfully, it's the good ones that stick out in my mind.

B!tch Fest Monday: Parents

Hey guys!!  Before I do the Bitch Fest, I just want to say that I'll be putting up an announcement about the Weekend Blog Walk either today or tomorrow, so for those of you who participate, please stay tuned!

Bitch Fest Monday
Hosted by Tammy
This week's theme is parents

Image hosting by Photobucket

This is really hard for me because anyone who knows me well...hell, anyone who knows me at all...knows that my Mum and I are REALLY close and that she's one of my 2 best friends in the world.  She and I get along great and she's so good to me.

BUT...the theme is parents...it didn't say WHO'S parents!! lol...so...since I can't (and frankly, won't) talk about my mum (and my dad died when I was 10), I think I'll bitch about OTHER PEOPLE'S parents, lmao.  One friend's parents stick out in my mind...well, she and I aren't really friends anymore, not in my mind anyway.  Her parents treat her like she's a god...they worship the ground she walks on.  They've spoiled her since the day she was born...every time she did something bad or screwed up, it was like they would reward her for it by buying her all kinds of stupid shit, giving her money, throwing her parties, etc.  I don't know of any time she was ever punished.

And now, she's fucked up her life ROYALLY and they're still helping her out of her messes...it's ridiculous!!  I mean, I know that good parents love their children unconditionally...my mum loves me unconditionally, no matter what, but if I screwed up the way this girl has, I wouldn't even blame my mum for telling me I was on my own.  I would deserve it!

So that's my rant for this Monday lol...Tammy, I hope you don't mind that I didn't bitch about my own parents...at least I bitched about someone's! LOL

Weekend Blog Walk, Week VIII: Best Birthday

Image hosting by Photobucket

Weekend Blog Walk, Week VIII

This week's topic was: What was your best birthday? Where were you, who were you with, what did you do? Have you ever had a surprise party? What would be your ideal birthday?

My best birthday so far has been my golden birthday (16 on the 16th of December - 6 years ago).  We had a simple party here with my Mum, my brother, his girlfriend at the time, her son, and my boyfriend at the time.  We had dinner, cake, presents...it was so simple and yet it meant the world to me because all my favorite people were in the same room at the same time, showering me with love and affection and it was just a really good time in my life and I was really happy.

I've never had a surprise party.  I'm holding out the hope that someone will throw me a suprise 25th birthday party 3 years from now lol.

Last question...my ideal birthday would be like my 16th, with all the people I love in the same room together, sharing laughs, talking and having a good time.  A trip would be fun too, except my birthday is right before Christmas, which means everyone's traveling and that could be a problem...I always say I'm going to start celebrating my birthday in the summer, like around the time of my half-birthday so I can travel and so that my friends are home from university and can actually do stuff lol...honestly though, I don't really care where I am...my last few birthdays have been at home with close family, and they were great. Luckily, I'm very easy to please! lol

Midweek Spaces Walk, Week 6: Childhood Books

Hi everyone!! I know I haven't been around lately but I should be around a bit more from now on. Before I do Dave's Midweek Spaces Walk, I'd just like to thank everyone who participated in my ~"Kiss Me, I'm Irish!" Day~ and made it such a success.  Thanks also to the people who stopped by for Terrie's St. Patrick's Day Guestbook Signing!  I have a photo album with all the St. Patty's pressies people left along the side.

This week, Dave asks..."I thought this week we would get our literary hats on and think back to childhood books. What sort of books did you enjoy reading when your were a child, and did you ever see yourself in any of the stories."

Well...when I was really little, my favorite books were the Berenstein Bears books...every time we went to the store where the post office was, I would  beg my dad to buy me one and he always did.  The stories were things that most kids could relate to and they had great messages.  When I was working in daycares and schools, those were always my favorite books to read to kids and then discuss the morals afterward.

When I got older, my favorite book was Anne of Green Gables.  I always imagined myself being Anne or at least being friends with her, because I was a lot like her in a lot of ways, especially the extremely overactive imagination and our outlook on life.

Another childhood favorite was BFG  by Roald Dahl (who also wrote such classics as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda and James and the Giant Peach).  I had to read this book for school (I believe it was the 5th grade) but I loved it so much that I borrowed it from the library a number of times and I LOVED the movie.  I actually just bought the book last year through my nephew's daycare's book club thing so I could have it in my collection.

Thanks for an awesome topic this week Dave, I think I'll take a trip down memory lane, get out some of my favorite childhood books and read them again!
